Ian Walters

Principal Consultant

Ian began work as a Trainee Sprinkler Engineer in 1979 and since then has gained experience in a number of design, project management and commercial roles. He started his career at How Fire where he spent 17 years before moving on to companies such as Active Fire, Vipond Fire, Compco Fire Systems. Ian was then appointed Sales Director at Argus Fire Protection, where he spent 11 years.

Ian joined the Fire Protection Association as Principal Consultant in 2019 and is involved in sales, training and carrying out the annual independent third-party inspections. He has experience in a range of fire protection systems and has worked on diverse projects from power stations to production buildings, warehouses and commercial office buildings. Ian is a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers with a BSc. Mechanical Engineering degree and has been a Chartered Engineer since 1990.
