The aim of this fire compartmentation and fire stopping programme is to 'up-skill' those working with the fabric of the building. You will gain knowledge to ensure compartmentation and structural fire safety is not compromised during and after work has been carried out. This is a one day modular course to our Passive Fire Protection Foundation programme, but can be completed alone.

Learning outcomes

  • outline the considerations in relation to the installation of penetration sealing systems.
  • list the types of penetration, and areas of application of fire stopping.
  • identify the aspects that will affect the performance of the fire stopping.
  • list three elements of the maintenance of fire stopping systems.
  • understand the complexities pertaining to voids in historical buildings.
  • explain the difference between cavity barriers, fire curtains, and smoke barriers.

It is strongly recommended that you have previously completed our one day Passive Fire Protection Foundation course or equivalent before completing this module.

This module will benefit contractors involved in the installation of passive fire protection as well as improve the knowledge base of those involved in the design, supply, inspection and maintenance of passive fire protection.
