Are you looking to demonstrate to your clients or employer that you are competent to undertake fire door inspections? This level 3 fire door inspection course will enable you to confirm occupational competence, providing you with the underpinning knowledge required to carry out fire door inspections.
This 3 day fire door inspection course will guide you through the types, function, and importance of a variety of fire doors. You will understand industry standard inspection procedures and will be able to demonstrate the correct methods for carrying out a fire door inspection. The programme will cover the requirements for timber fire doors, steel fire doors, glazed steel fire screens and roller shutter fire doors.
Learning outcomes
You will be required to complete the following fire door inspection training units to achieve the award:
Day 1
Understand what is meant by a ‘fire door’ in terms of its resistance to the passage of fire and smoke, how to identify a fire door and understand the performance rating, and understand the component parts of a fire door set
Be able to explain the regulations and standards relevant to fire doors and understand their relevance for owners and occupiers of non-domestic buildings
Day 2
Understand the equipment necessary to carry out an inspection on a fire-resistant door and understand the health and safety risks associated with the inspection and the duties placed on the inspector when carrying out an inspection to mitigate risk and work within professional competence
Carry out a fire door inspection, produce an inspection procedure that relates to the fire risk assessment of the building, and be able to recommend a pass or fail for the component parts including the frame, leaf, seals, hinges, glazing and other door hardware
Day 3: Assessment
This qualification is assessed through individual in-class practical assessment and a portfolio of evidence submitted post-course.
Certification
- Awarding Body for Building Education (ABBE) Level 3 Award in Fire Door Inspection
- 9.5 Fire Protection Association (FPA) CPD hours
Successful completion of this course entitles learners to use post nominal letters.
Progression
The FPA has been awarded Direct Claim Status (DCS) for this qualification in recognition of the quality of its processes, procedures, delivery, assessment, and learner experience. DCS allows the FPA to claim learners’ qualification certificates without having to wait for an external quality assurance audit, meaning that learners do not experience delays in receiving proof of achievement and can be confident in the service they will experience.
