Level 2 Award in Passive Fire Protection - Foundation Online

DURATION: 1 Day

PRICE: £539.00

COURSE CODE: WA17A

Fire protection is designed and built into the structure of many buildings. This is largely unseen once the building is in use but is vital to maintaining the safety of occupants in the event of a fire. Anyone who is carrying out maintenance or refurbishment should be aware of how their work may impact the structure to ensure that life safety and building protection is not compromised. This qualification provides essential knowledge for all those who operate in the built environment. The 1 day course begins with a look at how fire spreads and how built in measures can protect from this. It also explores the products and features that determine effective passive fire protection systems and the consequences of poorly fitted or missing elements, and the legislation that governs these requirements.

Learning outcomes

  • Determine how passive fire protection can mitigate, reduce, or prevent fire spread

  • Identify the regulations and standards related to building products, construction, and maintenance

  • Identify features and types of building products for passive fire protection systems

  • Explain the uses and limitations of fire protection products

  • Understand the ways existing buildings can be improved by the retro-fitting and maintenance of passive fire protection

Duration

  • Total qualification time: 20 hours

Certification

  • Awarding Body for Building Education (ABBE) Level 2 Award in Passive Fire Protection - 601/2814/9
