Over an interactive 4 days, this train-the-trainer programme equips you with a Level 3 teaching qualification and the knowledge, skills, and resources to move from delegate to trainer; enabling you to deliver basic fire safety and fire warden training.

Whether delivering mandatory staff induction training in fire safety, or supporting your organisation’s fire wardens (marshals) to fulfill their duties, this course will start you on your training journey, providing Level 3 competencies in Education and Training.

Learning outcomes

Successful completion of all assessment elements will provide you with the tools to deliver content to a range of learners and to confidently assess their understanding of the topic.

Fire Safety outcomes:

  • Understand the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace
  • Understand how fire is controlled in the workplace
  • Understand the principles and practices of fire safety management at work
  • Understand the role of the fire warden
  • Identify and use the correct portable firefighting equipment for the situation
  • Explain the importance of PEEPS and emergency evacuation practice

Education and Training outcomes:

  • Understand teaching roles and responsibilities in education and training
  • Understand ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Understand and use inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Facilitate learning and development for groups and individuals
  • Understand the principles and practices of assessment

Duration

  • 4 days attendance is required
  • The qualification additional learning and assessment must be completed within 8 weeks.
  • Total qualification time: 130 hours

Certification

  • ABBE Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety Training (RQF Level 3)
  • 26 Fire Protection Association (FPA) CPD hours

The qualification contains 7 mandatory units, providing a total of 13 credits at Level 3. Successful completion of all units is required:

  • Roles, responsibilities, and relationships in education and training
  • Using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Facilitating learning and development for individuals and groups
  • Understanding assessment in education and training
  • Principles and practice of assessment
  • Fire safety principles
  • Using portable firefighting equipment safely

The course is delivered using live taught sessions either in person or online. Learners are required to participate in activities to practise and demonstrate theories and skills learned. The assessment on day 4 is on an individual basis and requires a demonstration of teaching practices.
