L31: Fundamental Principles and Concepts for Fire Risk Assessment
Undertaken as a 5-day class-based course, providing the underpinning framework for practical fire risk assessments including:
- The legal framework
- Building construction and the risks posed from fire
- Fire growth and hazard identification
- Fire safety in the protection of people at risk
Assessment is through multiple-choice questions and a practical fire risk assessment report.
L32: Prepare to undertake fire risk assessments
Undertaken as a self-study module, you will be required to produce a portfolio of specified evidence to meet the criteria including:
- Determine the necessary level of competence
- Ensure the necessary level of resource
- Ensure that responsibilities are understood and agreed
L33: Undertake and report on fire risk assessments in simple premises
You will be required to complete a minimum of 3 fire risk assessments over a variety of building types and provide the specified evidence to achieve this module.
L34: Work in a safe and professional manner
This module allows you to demonstrate effective working relationships and provide evidence of working in a professional and ethical manner, complying with organisational and legal requirements. Assessment will be evidenced throughout your portfolio, demonstrated through activities and may require a professional discussion with your assessor.
Assessment
You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence consisting of self-study, online activities, class-based assessment, and practical examples of work. You will be required to complete a minimum of 3 fire risk assessments and provide the specified additional evidence to achieve this qualification. The total qualification time for this certificate is 300 hours.
