Are you thinking about fire extinguisher training expiry or wondering how long it lasts? This course, which can be delivered either online or in the classroom, is designed to help competent people maintain their competence.
Ongoing professional development is essential and is addressed through the requirement of refresher training at 3 year intervals to comply with the legal requirements of BS 5306: Part 3. This course offers an update on new products, legal disposal of extinguisher content, and interpretation of appropriate standards and regulations.

- Awareness of new extinguishers available to ensure that you can offer best practice advice and make informed cost-effective choices
- Knowledge of provision and siting for different extinguishers, including consideration for travel distances
- Maintenance intervals
- Understanding of current service principles, including checking the condition, understanding of weight tolerances, disposal processes, and options
Certification
- Fire Protection Association (FPA) Certificate
- 5 Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) CPD hours
To maintain BAFE SP101 registration, this refresher training has to be completed within 3 years of passing either:
a) the initial training course examination; or
b) the last refresher training examination.
It might not be possible to adhere precisely to a 3-year period. This is acceptable provided that the refresher training has been officially booked before the 3-year anniversary and the course has been completed within 6 months of the anniversary. Failure to follow this procedure entails completing the initial training again.
