This course introduces the role of passive fire protection within the building structure and the relationship and compensations with active fire protection measures. It is aimed at those who advise or maintain the fire safety elements of any occupied premises.
Learning outcomes 
  • outline the legal, code driven requirements for passive fire protection installations
  • understand the role of passive protection in ensuring the safety of buildings and occupants
  • know the responsibilities of those involved in the process including the designer, specifier, distributer, installer and end user
  • identify some common problems and issues caused by building alterations and potential solutions


  • Fire Protection Association (FPA) certificate 
  • CFPA Europe Level 3 Passive Fire Protection Officer (when completed with one of our 1-day modular courses)   
  • IFE CPD hours pending
