Sprinkler Inspector

The key function of this role is to perform testing and inspection of in-service automatic fire sprinkler heads removed from installations, to determine their continued ability to operate.

Key accountabilities

  • To provide inspection, testing and condition reporting of in-service automatic fire sprinkler heads removed from installations, to determine their continued ability to operate or otherwise. This is achieved by using test protocol BS EN 12259-1 (or other similar protocols) and various test and measure equipment at our laboratory in Blockley, Gloucestershire.  The intent of this service is to ensure fire protection equipment remains fit for intended purpose.
  • To follow instructions carefully and contribute to important sprinkler head operational and reliability testing. 
  • From time to time there may be opportunities to contribute to other projects undertaken in our fire test laboratory. 

Experience Required

  • Strong technical aptitude, literacy, and numeracy skills. 
  • Repetitive nature of the work – does not suit all candidates.


  • Understanding of scientific and/or engineering principles. 
  • Hands on / technically minded.


  • GCSE or equivalent English & Maths at grade C or above required. 
  • Science A-levels and/or degree or equivalent level education advantageous.
