Assistant Editor - Fire & Risk Management Journal

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced copy-writer or assistant editor to join our communications team, working within an industry that is currently experiencing heightened focus.  As a joint publication the Fire & Risk Management Journal supports the Fire Protection Association (FPA) as an authority on all fire safety related issues and legislation and the RiscAuthority insurer based membership on relevant issues of business resilience and minimising loss.

The FPA is a not- for-profit organisation working to identify and draw attention to the risks from fire and how these can be kept to a minimum. Due to the FPA’s trusted and independent status it has attained an unrivalled reputation for quality of work and expertise in all aspects of fire including research, consultancy, training, membership, risk surveying and auditing.  The FPA actively campaigns and lobbies for improved fire safety within industry and government and is seen as a go-to authority for expert, impartial advice. 

The Fire & Risk Management Journal seeks to update and educate the FPA and RiscAuthority members and communicate current thought leadership pieces and industry news.  Seeking to connect members and reflect the core brand values and messaging of the business and provide impartial news.

The Assistant Editor would work closely with the Editor, Marketing and Membership teams to produce the FRM Journal 10 times per year and support the flow of current news items via digital platforms and social media.

Person Specification:

•    A motivated individual with proven writing, editing and design skills
•    Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
•    Able to engage across print, digital, online and social
•    Excellent communicator who is happy to engage with all stakeholders
•    A dynamic person, able to work well with others, to build productive relationships in the industry
•    An eye for detail and good design is also essential


As part of the overall marketing and communications team you will report directly to the FRM Editor.  This role is being offered as full-time.
