We are looking for a Technical Consultant to contribute to the sustainability of the FPA through the provision of expert technical consultancy support to RISCAuthority (an annually funded research scheme which conducts research on behalf of the insurance sector and is administered by the FPA), and the FPA’s Training and Fire Risk Services departments.
Key accountabilities
- Conduct research and produce analysis and white papers on behalf of RISCAuthority
- Provide mentoring, coaching and technical support to both internal and external consultants as and when required
- Attend and present talks at seminars, conferences and webinars
- Provide support to the Editorial team including reviewing draft publications and preparing technical articles for the journal
- Provide support to the executive and senior management teams as required
- Provide support to the FPA departments by way of technical advice
- Provide technical support to the Sales and Marketing department for proposition development
- Convene RISCAuthority’s Passive Working Group.
Skills and experience
- At least 10 years’ experience, of which 5 years must have been in a senior fire safety consulting/advisory capacity
- Ability to engage effectively with people internally and externally
- A team player who can demonstrate a collaborative style of working that enhances business/project performance
- Ability to lead by example and in a manner consistent with the organisation’s policies, goals, and values
- Ability to deliver projects to the required standard on time
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- A relevant technical degree, preferably in fire engineering or a fire related discipline.
