DSEAR Risk Assessments

DSEAR stands for Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002. This law is in place to protect people from the risk of fires caused by explosion and corrosion of metal within the workplace. A dangerous substance is any substance used or present at work that could cause harm to individuals as a result of a fire. These include solvents, paints, varnishes, flammable gases, dusts from machining and sanding and substances corrosive to metal.

How can the FPA help?
With specialist consultants, the FPA can take the stress of a DSEAR risk assessment away from you and your business by conducting it for you and keeping you in safe hands.

As it is the employer’s duty to ensure all the requirements are met we can review:

  • The hazardous materials present
  • Processes using hazardous materials
  • Supporting activities
  • Control measures during maintenance and emergencies
  • Hazard zones
  • The interconnection of plant and buildings
  • Spillage containment and recovery
  • Control of waste products and materials
  • Any further potential for the reduction of risk
