Warehouse roof collapses after devastating fire

Fire crews respond to a significant incident in Enfield on 21 June 2025, in which a two-storey warehouse was completely destroyed by fire

Control officers at the London Fire Brigade (LFB) responded to around 50 calls regarding the blaze. Twelve fire appliances and 80 firefighters attended the incident, including crews from Enfield, Edmonton, Chingford, Woodford, and surrounding fire stations. Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service were also on hand to provide further support.

LFB reported that during firefighting operations, the roof of the building collapsed, increasing the visibility of the fire and the amount of smoke being produced. Firefighters said that the collapse “resulted in some parts of the building being inaccessible”.

As reported by Enfield Independent, the blaze was visible from across north London, with smoke also visible from the M25. In an update posted on X (formerly Twitter), LFB said: “Control Officers are taking an increasingly greater number of calls about the fire, which has become more visible within the last hour

Firefighters are working hard to extinguish the fire, which is affecting most of a warehouse.”

Locals were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke travel. Whilst there were no reports on any injuries, firefighters spent more than 24 hours extinguishing deep-seated pockets of fire. LFB later stated:

The fire at a warehouse in Enfield is now under control; however, firefighters will remain on scene through the night to fully extinguish the fire.”

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by LFB and the Metropolitan Police.
