This latest message, which followed action in the week leading up to the anniversary of the fire (14 June), read: ‘Two years after Grenfell, this building still hasn't kept its promises. #Demandchange. Grenfell United’.

According to The Evening Standard, last week’s messages illuminating high rise blocks in west London (Frinstead House), Newcastle (Cruddas Park) and Manchester (NV Building),  drew attention respectively to their lack of sprinklers, non functioning fire doors and dangerous cladding.

Figures reportedly show that some 328 high rise residential and public buildings have yet to complete the replacement of unsafe cladding, suspected of having contributed to the fire, which itself triggered a public inquiry and criminal investigation..

A spokesperson for Grenfell United said: ‘Last week we sent a powerful message across the UK that was hard to ignore. The reaction and outpouring of support has been incredible. We felt now was time to shine a spotlight on one more building – the Houses of Parliament.

‘We are calling for all dangerous cladding to be replaced, for fire safety measures in all tower blocks and for a new separate housing regulator that would put people over profits.

‘With a new prime minister about to be appointed, fulfilling the promises made by this Government after the fire must be made a priority. People must be safe in their homes.’
