I’m honoured to be a finalist for the Fire Safety Manager of the Year award. It’s wonderful to be recognised alongside such an exceptional group of women, and it is incredibly inspiring to see the growing number of women working in fire safety. I look forward to the awards ceremony later this year, and I would like to wish my fellow nominees the very best of luck.

The other finalists in this category are Rachel Pollard, Louise Curtis, Yujie Wang, Abigail Link, Ann Hurst, and Phil Dolphin.

The FPA has also proudly partnered with the Women in Fire Safety Awards to sponsor the ‘Inclusive Company Award’, celebrating and recognising those organisations within the fire safety industry that “demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion”.

In particular, the award celebrates companies that “actively create equitable opportunities for all employees, regardless of gender, race, or background, and promote a culture where diverse perspectives are valued and integral to the organisation's success. The award highlights exemplary practices in inclusive hiring, training, and career advancement, setting a benchmark for others in the industry to follow”.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Director of Training and Digital Services at the FPA, Claire Wright said: “We are committed to diversity and inclusion at the FPA, while also acknowledging there is work to be done in the industry, we continue to educate ourselves and learn from others.

“We are honoured to be sponsoring the ‘Inclusive Company Award’ and welcome the efforts of other organisations within fire safety to ensure inclusivity remains a key priority in practices and decision making going forward. Good luck to all the finalists, and we look forward to celebrating all of their wonderful achievements in London.

Unveiling the much-anticipated shortlist on social media, the organisers of the awards, Chloe Vickery and Kate Blake expressed their thanks for the support received from across the industry since the awards were launched, adding that they had received an “overwhelming number of nominations” this year.

The standard has been incredibly high this year and we are immensely proud of you all,” they said.

All of this year’s finalists come from a range of backgrounds and specialisms and signify how far the industry has come in recent years, despite the immense work still to be done to ensure diversity and inclusion are consistent across the board.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in London on Thursday 12 September 2024.
