British Standards Institute (BSI) has opened booking for the launch event for PAS 2000:2026 to be held in London in early March
Following the completion of a public consultation in the second half of 2025, it has been announced by BSI that PAS 2000 Construction products – Bringing safe products to market – Code of practice will be launched at a free event on Tuesday 10 March 2026.
Announced via the newly launched BSI Competence Hub, the new code of practice has been developed in response to the recommendations around construction product safety information made by the Grenfell Tower Inquiry and the subsequent Morrell/Day report, Testing for a safer future.
Aimed at ensuring those who manufacture, specify, test, or procure construction products bring safe and trusted construction products into our built environment, PAS 2000 “describes the framework against which manufacturers can show they have taken all reasonable steps to ensure their products are safe for their intended uses.”
Expectations for safety and accountability continue to grow as regulations move forward, and the need to provide “comprehensive, accurate, and reliable evidence” regarding the safety and performance of construction products is paramount.
Those attending the event will receive details on the following:
- understanding the PAS 2000 standard – what it covers, who it is for, and how it supports safer construction products
- discover the framework for evidencing that products are safe for their intended uses
- how to provide comprehensive, accurate, and trustworthy information to support product claims
- insights from the technical author, sponsors, and sector leaders about the standard’s development and impact
- how PAS 2000 aligns with the latest industry reforms and government recommendations to help stay on top of regulation.
Speakers at the event will include Ian Richardson, Built Environment, Sector Lead for the BSI; Hywel Davies OBE, the technical author of PAS 2000; and Geoff Brown, Assistant Director for the Office for Product Safety and Standards.
