A significant warehouse fire in Brent, north-west London, prompted a substantial emergency response from the London Fire Brigade (LFB)
The incident occurred at a business park on Oxgate Lane on the evening of 11 June, where a multi-use, two-storey warehouse building became heavily involved in fire. According to LFB, “at the fire’s height, the majority of the structure and its roof was alight,” with large plumes of smoke visible from miles away. The LFB confirmed it received more than 85 calls reporting the blaze.
Crews from Hendon, Willesden, West Hampstead, and surrounding stations were mobilised, with 25 fire appliances and approximately 150 firefighters working through the night to contain the fire. The operational response included the deployment of specialist equipment to tackle the fire effectively. Four turntable ladders were used to fight the fire from above, while a High Volume Pump and a Hose Layer were brought in to increase the water supply and support firefighting operations.
Firefighters succeeded in bringing the incident under control by 05:02 the following morning, although pockets of fire continued to burn throughout the day. LFB noted that “firefighters will remain on the scene throughout the day to fully extinguish the fire.”
Given the scale of the incident and the volume of smoke produced, precautionary measures were put in place to protect nearby residents. A neighbouring residential block was evacuated with around 70 people taken to a local rest centre. An LFB spokesperson also advised residents in the local area “to keep doors and windows closed where possible. This was due to the significant amount of smoke being produced by the fire.”
On the successful conclusion of the incident, the LFB reported that “all residents who were evacuated are now able to return back to their homes”, with its Community Engagement team on-site “supporting those affected and providing reassurance”.
Despite the severity of the fire and the extent of damage to the warehouse, the LFB confirmed that there were “no reports of any injuries”. An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway. At this stage, LFB has indicated that “the fire is not being treated as suspicious.”
