Over the past few years, we have requested more feedback from our members which has helped shape our refreshed membership categories, influenced new guidance, and steered our research priorities. The expanded access to technical resources showcased in the review is a direct result of our ongoing dialogue with our members – and we thank you for your input!
Key highlights from the Membership Review include simpler membership categories; expansion of fire safety guidance; opportunities for member influence; expanded CPD and learning opportunities; an ambitious programme of content for 2026; and of course, 10 issues of F&RM.

An update on cladding: regulation, remediation, and what’s changing
22 April 2026 14:00
Almost nine years after the Grenfell Tower tragedy, thousands of buildings across the UK remain unsafe. Major legislative changes are underway, with new government targets, regulations, and funding schemes to support changing the cladding landscape. In this webinar, FPA Technical Director, George Edwardes, will provide a clear update on how remediation is progressing, what the latest government updates mean for you, and the changes that are yet to come.
Attendees who attend for the duration can claim one hour of FPA CPD or up to one CPD hour towards the CII/Personal Finance Society member CPD scheme. Register here.

FPA completes UKAS audit at our fire testing laboratory
The FPA is proud to share that we have successfully completed a recent UKAS audit at our Fire Testing Laboratory.
The FPA is UKAS-accredited for a range of fire resistance test standards, and we were pleased to welcome our colleagues from UKAS to witness and audit a fire resistance penetration and glazing tests as part of our ongoing accreditation.
UKAS accreditation plays a crucial role in fire resistance testing. It provides:
- independent verification that our testing processes are robust and consistent confidence for manufacturers that their products and systems are assessed to recognised standards
- assurance for regulators, insurers, and fire engineers that results generated in our laboratory are reliable and trusted.
The FPA’s laboratory includes four fire resistance test furnaces to support manufacturers who require independent fire testing and product certification via UL Solutions, and meet the evolving demands of the fire engineering sector through PartB.
FPA speakers to appear at Fire Safety Event 2026
The FPA is once again supporting the Fire Safety Event from 28-30 April and we look forward to welcoming members and non-members alike to our stand to talk all things fire safety
In addition, Chief Executive of the FPA, Dr Gavin Dunn, will be taking to the stage in the Innovation & Compliance Theatre at 11:15am on Wednesday 29 April to talk about Understanding the framework for fire risk assessor competency.
In this session, he will provide an overview of BS 8674:2025 and the changes implemented to improve the competency of fire risk assessors, the level of detail and comprehension required for fire risk assessment, and why fire risk assessments need to be a holistic and active document in place throughout the lifespan of a building.
Later on the same day, at 12:55pm in the Fire Safety Leaders Summit Theatre, Director of Testing and Inspection Services at the FPA, Richard Glover, will be taking part in a panel session looking at MMC and Fire Safety: Challenges and Concerns.
The panellists include representatives from the FPA’s testing collaboration partners PartB and UL Solutions and will tackle industry concerns around fire safety in modern methods of construction (MMC), including consideration of the gaps between innovation and safety systems in the construction sector.
Panellists will also discuss the danger of MMC fire risks being treated the same as those in traditional construction, particularly given the reliance on contractors to ensure fire stopping measures are installed correctly once materials are taken on-site.
With a packed programme of content across all three days, staff from the FPA will be on hand at this key event in the fire safety industry. We hope to see you there!
