Associate Fire Safety Consultants

The FPA’s Professional Practice is currently searching for experienced and qualified professionals, who wish to continue to use their skills and expertise on a part-time basis, to help commerce and industry comply with fire safety legislation including conducting fire risk assessments, developing fire safety management strategies appropriate to specific working environments and general fire safety consulting.  

The new members of our team of consultants must have a thorough knowledge of building and fire safety legislation and related fire safety competencies, and be able to work flexibly with minimum supervision. They should be a member of a recognised professional body and be able to demonstrate continued professional development. They should already be on a register of approved fire risk assessors or have the experience and qualifications necessary to be capable of acquiring this registration.

Applicants should also possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and be familiar with the production of documents using the Microsoft Office suite of programmes. The use of tablets with web based programmes is also desirable.  

Operating from home, you will work on assigned projects according to your expertise and competence. Occasional visits may be necessary to the FPA’s main offices at Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, where the administration and quality management of the work is centralised.

The successful candidate will have access to the FPA’s extensive range of publications and guidance documents, and will have the opportunity to attend training events, to enable them to keep up-to-date with legislation and technical developments. Income earned would be in accordance with the type and number of jobs undertaken.
