The Fire Protection Association (FPA) is the UK’s national fire safety organisation and employs some of the country’s foremost experts on the minimisation of fire risk. Who better to help you take your own risk assessment skills to the next level? Below we consider two routes to do so, a two day course which helps you consider complex risks, or a formal qualification which typically takes 6 – 18 months to complete.
NOTE: The options below are for experienced fire risk assessors/fire safety professionals. If you are looking for introductory training or a course to help you get accepted to a fire risk assessment register, please consider our Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment, or Fire Risk Assessment course instead.
Looking to learn how to assess risk in more complex properties?
Advanced Fire Risk Assessment
The ideal course for fire risk assessors responsible for more complex premises
Hugely interactive in its approach, course content reflects knowledge requirements identified by the Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council and the National Occupational Standards in Fire Safety. The course will examine the risk one might consider in complex premises, for example HMOs, leisure/retail and industrial situations. We welcome delegates bringing their own professional scenarios to the course for discussion with the trainer. We also offer a course focused specifically at fire risk assessments for residential properties.

It is possible to skip this step if you have already completed this or an equivalent course (e.g. NEBOSH Fire). It is also possible to replace this with FPA’s 3 day equivalent (link to course dates) if you already have a good understanding of fire safety
2. Eight individual study units, each requiring approximately 15 hours study
3. Examination: A three-hour written examination completes the course. Further information regarding the format of the exam can be obtained by clicking the link below.
