Mike currently promotes and develops FPA services to the UK insurance industry, particularly in the field of risk engineering in which FPA supplies market leading survey services via its Risk Management Services (RMS) operation. Mike helped establish RMS in 2002 and continues to assist in its management and quality control. Through his long association with technical services to insurers, he is able to play a role as a property insurance specialist consultant as RMS rolls out new and innovative risk management solutions.
He has an insurance industry background, specialised in risk management. Along the way, Mike has held a number of managerial roles, ultimately having chief office oversight of risk management services in the fields of security, fire, sprinkler protection and environmental risk, whilst completing a range of fee based consultancy assignments for risk management and captive insurance consultancy.
Mike has a separate mission as the Convenor of the RISCAuthority Security Group. This group is responsible for supporting UK insurers with guidance across the entire spectrum of business and personal security. During his career Mike has promoted insurers' interests in crime risk management in various ways including work with the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) and the British Standards Institution (BSI), serving for a time as the chairman of the High Security committee. He has spoken and written widely on these issues and has represented the ABI a number of times on radio and television. He sits on the board of the Association of Insurance Surveyors (AiS) and at various times has been an ABI appointed director of the National Approval Council for Security Systems (now the National Security Inspectorate).
