The FPAs fire advisory services covers four distinct facilities...
Fire risk assessments Both specific and general fire risk assessments can be conducted depending on the clients needs. These include:
- Life safety fire risk assessments to meet the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The FPA can assist with managing the implementation of the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 by reviewing existing risk assessments conducted in accordance with the Fire Safety (Workplace) Regulations 1997 (as amended) to ensure that the full scope of the RRO has been addressed and to incorporate the relevant recommendations from the fire certificate were necessary.
Assessments are conducted in accordance with the appropriate Fire Safety Risk Assessment Guide using a functional report format.
- Property protection assessments to reduce and manage the potential for extensive property loss in the event of fire are conducted in accordance with appropriate standards and codes, recognised best practice, and the FPA Design Guide for the Fire Protection of Buildings.
- Full fire risk assessments addressing both life safety and property protection. Risk ratings are assigned using a matrix that takes into consideration the probability and consequence of fire in relation to life and property loss potential. Alternatively, we would be happy to adopt a format consistent with your corporate approach to quality and health and safety issues.
All life safety assessments take into consideration the needs of persons with mobility or other disabilities. Supporting photographic evidence is provided where required. Reporting formats can be tailored to meet particular needs. Post assessment technical support is available. Specialist advice for complex deficiencies using a fire engineering approach is available. All information gathered is treated as confidential.
Fire safety audits Based on an organisations in-house fire precautions or fire safety manual, audits can be conducted on an independent, impartial and thorough basis thereby adding value to a fire safety management system. Our generic report format can be used or we can develop a format to suit particular needs. Audits are based on quality management audit principles including preliminary feedback at the end of the audit and client confidentiality usually associated with this type of activity. Post audit technical support is also available.
General and specialist fire safety consulting This is a support service to assist with the development and management of fire safety programmes and to propose practical and cost-effective solutions for specific fire safety problems. Examples of services available include:
- the development, implementation, and review of company specific fire safety strategies and standards;
- local authority licensing issues;
- the protection of historic/heritage buildings;
- evaluation and supervision of fire drills;
- specialist advice for complex fire safety deficiencies using a fire engineering approach.
Fire investigation In the unfortunate event of a fire occurring, a post fire support service is available. Acting independently or as part of a specialist team, we will assist with the determination of origin and cause of a fire. Analysis of fire incident and origin and cause reports is also undertaken to identify lessons to be learnt and recommendations to help prevent a recurrence.
