Sprinkler Systems - Introduction

Introduction

Given the proven effectiveness of sprinklers, it is important that all staff having a responsibility for fire safety have a working knowledge of such systems and installations.

The UK’s national standard for fire sprinkler systems has developed over a period of more than 100 years, originally being the publication of the Fire Offices’ Committee and, since 1986, being the work of the FPA/LPC. BS 5306: Part 2: Specification for sprinkler systems has its origin in, and is part of, the LPC Rules for Automatic Sprinkler Installations, available from the FPA.

Following release by BSI of the new ‘European’ standard for the design installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems, the FPA has published a second volume of rules which includes BS EN 12845 and a new series of technical bulletins titled LPC Rules for automatic sprinkler installations. Incorporating BS EN 12845 – this background gives the FPA unrivalled experience and expertise in this area. These courses act as either an introduction to the subject, or as a foundation for the more comprehensive sprinkler design courses. Certain courses will also support the delegates studies towards successfully passing LPCB/BRE LPS 1048 examinations.

We would like to remind our customers that significant reductions in price are available for those who would like to study a combination of any of our introductory, intermediate, advanced and maintenance sprinkler courses.
