Overview

Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) can pose an increased risk from fire to the occupants, particularly if those premises are poorly designed, managed or maintained. The legal requirements imposed on anyone responsible for the management of an HMO can be confusing as they may be subject to both the Housing Act 2004 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Most HMO's will reuqire a licence. This course offers essential instruction and information fo the effective safe managemnet of these premises.

You will receive specialst advice of how to carry out a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment of HMO's using the latest guidance documents available.

Who will benefit?

Landlord and those that manage, or have some responsibility for any multi-occupied buiding (s), will be especially interested in this programme. The course assumes delegates have little experience in the field of fire risk assessment but some background knowledge of fire safety basics.

The course has received approval from the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) for the purpose of thier Register of Fire Risk Assessors and Auditors.

  • a thorough understanding of legal responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order  & The Housing Act 2004
