The FPA has been a training provider for over 35 years and is in the unique position of being able to offer technical training coupled with flexibility and value. The Training Department currently offers over 55 different training courses covering fire safety management, fire safety engineering, and health and safety topics, in addition to organising regular seminars and specialist training events tailored to specific company requirements. Run by fully qualified and experienced fire safety professionals, courses can be held at our own training suite located at the fire service college, Moreton-In-Marsh, on a regional basis, or at a client's premises if required. The FPA training initiative is recognised globally by industry, commerce, government and all relevant professional bodies.
Bespoke Training
Many organisations prefer training on a 'bespoke' basis, so that they can preside over the location and timing of the course and the programme can be tailored to personal preferences. Our bespoke training service allows clients to make significant savings on accommodation, travel and room hire cost.
Fire Warden/Marshal Training
Our popular 'Basic Fire Awareness and Fire Prevention' course is the most comprehensive, cost-effective, one-day fire safety course available in the UK. The course satisfies the training requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Management Courses
The FPA has a wide range of fire safety management courses designed to give students with varying degrees of knowledge and experience the opportunity to complete courses at their own pace. Management courses available include a one-week fire safety management course, aimed at persons particularly responsible for fire within their organisation, and the 'European Diploma in Fire Safety Management', organised in conjunction with the other members of CFPA Europe.
Engineering Courses
The FPA offers a wide range of courses in various aspects of fire engineering. These include courses at basic, intermediate and advanced levels in automatic fire detection systems and sprinkler systems. Download the PDF file, from the link above, to find out more.
Sprinkler Systems Given the proven effectiveness of sprinklers, it is important that all staff having a responsibility for fire safety have a working knowledge of such systems and installations. The UK's national standard for fire sprinkler systems has developed over a period of more than 100 years, originally being the publication of the Fire Offices' Committee and, since 1986, being the work of the FPA/LPC. BS 5306: Part 2: Specification for Sprinkler Systems has its origin in, and is part of, the LPC Rules for Automatic Sprinkler Installations, available from the FPA. Following release by BSI of the new European standard for the design, installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems, the FPA have published a second volume of rules which includes BS EN 12845 and a new series of technical bulletins, titled LPC Rules for Automatic Sprinkler Installations incorporating BS EN 12845. This background gives the FPA unrivalled experience and expertise in this area. The courses that the FPA hold can act as either an introduction to the subject, or as a foundation for the more comprehensive sprinkler design courses.
